With Prospect Park West, I was faced with a dilemma: how do I base my rating of the story when the characters are totally unlikable? These women are the most shallow, narcissistic women (not to mention mothers) I've ever read. They are so self-obsessed till it's not funny. Literally. There were times I wanted to slap the mess out of them, for their clueless observations about life and race, but I guess that's the point of Prospect Park. The satire of buppie parents, I get. It was somewhat
well-written, and it's evident the author is in on the joke.
Bottom line, I would rate it more like a 2.5, not quite 3.
